We ask each other, who has control over what we consume? Ideally we want to say the consumer, but with the industry these days, we don’t even know if the artist has that control over what they put out. On the topic of sampling, it takes form into a brand new art piece, even though it is literally stripped and looped from an original source. The best DJs open their minds to find new samples which can take lifetimes. We talk about agency and the choices we have to aide in our own success. Not only that, but I ask, do we have the agency to aide ourselves with all that is going on around us?
