About bbLeaders
Who We Are
bbLeaders is a core group of Building Beats alumni, students and emerging leaders in the youth music community. Through mentorship, workshops, gigs and employment opportunities, Building Beats helps young artists grow and develop to the next level by providing hands on experience in the creative industry.
Ages 16-24 are encouraged to apply.
At bbLeaders, we recognize the importance of high school and post-secondary college success and strive to offer a comprehensive support system for our members as they navigate the complex world of higher education. We believe that cultivating well-rounded individuals with diverse skill sets is crucial for thriving in today's competitive world.
By joining bbLeaders, young artists will not only develop their skills and grow their networks, but also gain the confidence and resilience necessary to thrive in the ever-evolving world.
Our Fall & Spring cohorts invite you to take part in a series of workshops that focuses on entrepreneurship, leadership and life skills to help young artists become successful creative and music professionals.
Topics will include artist development, digital marketing, contract and performance negotiation, music licensing and publishing, personal finance and navigating the post-secondary education world.
Artists in the bbLeaders program will be connected to:
Opportunities within the music and creative industry including internships at record labels, music tech companies and recording studios
Assistant teaching roles in our workshops
A chance to visit colleges and vocational educational programs to connect with teachers and alumni
Performance opportunities with our various corporate and city partners
A chance to travel to visit other cities for workshops with our network of partner organizations
Contribute to our monthly radio show hosted at Newtown Radio
Artists will also have the opportunity to meet and network with various creative professionals from NYC's media and entertainment industries.
Workshops are held online, at our headquarters in Brooklyn and various professional settings.
