Professional Development and Training

bbForTeachers offers many opportunities for professional development and training, tailored to your needs.

We specialize in training K-12 teachers how to utilize digital technology to teach music production, podcasting, DJ’ing and music coding.

Some examples of workshops and trainings we have held in the past include:

“Make Beats With a DJ” workshop

This will be a hands-on session where you’ll learn more about DJ sampling history and techniques, using free online browser-based tools like Looperman and Soundtrap to create your own beats. At the end of the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your creation under the artist name of your choice. This is a unique opportunity to enrich your teaching methods and learn new ways to engage your students with digital music technology.

Coding Music with Scratch:

Learn how to create your own "band" and design a colorful music video in the free browser-based Javascript music coding program Scratch. At the end of the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your creation under the artist name of your choice. This is a great way to incorporate STEM and digital technology into your classes.

We can also customize our PDs for your educators’ needs. Some examples of this are:

  • Teaching music to elementary students through digital, browser-based apps

  • How to incorporate podcasting for literacy into ELA classes

  • How to set up and work with DJ technology in the classroom

We also offer district and school packages that include:

  • Curriculum/lesson plan yearly licensing

  • Exclusive teacher resources for teaching with digital technology

  • Professional development workshops and teacher training

  • Visits from guest artists (NYC and LA)
