J Dilla, born James Dewitt Yancey, is a legendary Hip-Hop producer who pioneered the sound of Detriot in the '90s and early 2000s. Dilla has collaborated with artists including Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Slum Village, and Janet Jackson. In 2006, he released the critically acclaimed album “Donuts”, which is considered a classic by critics and Hip-Hop purists alike. Sadly his legacy was cut short on On February 10th, 2006. He passed away from health complications caused by thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, a rare blood disorder.
