Create a new track and select “Drums & Machines.” Choose any drum kit (live-sounding, electronic, etc).

Pop music plays in a variety of speeds, but slower tracks typically range from 100-115 BPM.

  • Feel free to copy this MIDI pattern below (and/or add your own edits to it!)

BASS

Create a new track and select “Bass & 808.” Choose any bass sound (an 808, Moog/Reese Bass, etc). For this example, we just copied the root (bottom/first) note of each chord for the bassline.

Make a House Type Beat

Lead

Create a new track, select “Synth.” For this example, we chose the “Club Fifths” synth for a club sound.

  • Feel free to copy this rhythm as well in your MIDI roll.

Bass

Create a new track and select “Bass & 808.” Choose any bass sound (an 808, Moog/Reese Bass, etc). For this example, we just copied the lead with slight edits.

Melody

Create a new track, select “Synth.” For this example, we chose the “Bright Synth” preset for a brighter, contrasting sound.
