ABOUT
Background:
The AMP Social Impact and Culture Committee was developed during the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement after incidents in the summer of 2020 and has since awarded (4) scholarships to diverse recipients.
Goals:
We’ve developed this program with the goal of bridging the game for interested students of color by helping them…
…create a solid foundation with music education
…gain level of exposure to industry professionals recipients may not have had access to otherwise
…access to essential tools to develop skills as future music professionals.
True success will be if a student is inspired to pursue a career in our industry through these initial educational experiences and/or is enabled to do so by our music software & equipment offerings.
Scholarship Offerings:
For the Music Maker Path
Admission to an online or in-person course in music production, offered by either a college-level establishment or production training program. (Estimated value: $1,500 - $2,400)
Music Production Kit including laptop, DAW, audio interface and sample libraries (Estimated value: $4,239)
Resume Review
Industry Internship
For the Music Supervision Path
Admission to an online or in-person course in music business, offered by either a college-level establishment or production training program. (Estimated value: $1,500 - $2,400)

ELIGIBILITY
All the submission materials will be considered in a holistic view; no single item will make or break an applicant’s selection.
Must identify as Black/African American, Multiracial or Multiethnic (e.g., Hispanic and Black)
We’ll include basic demographic/identity questions, including “Prefer not to say” options
Suggested if you have attended, or graduated from, a Save the Music-affiliated school district or Building Beats Program (Creative path limited to metro NYC/NJ and LA)
Must be a U.S. resident
Suggested if you are a college Junior, Senior, or a recent graduate within 2-4 years
Preferred GPA of 2.5 or higher
Must be eligible for an internship placement or employment in September 2026
Must be available to intern approximately between September 5, 2026, and December 23, 2026.
Must be available for virtual coursework at Berklee in Fall 2026; this is a 12-week course that begins on September 28, 2026, and finishes on December 20, 2026.
Must be able to satisfy the below requirements and show their passion and curiosity about music careers through the below prompts

First round
Applicants will be shortlisted after initial review of the below required materials and prompt submissions
Second round
Consists of interviews of shortlisted applicants

PROMPTS: Select (1) path and submit. (Music Business Admin, Creative Composer, or Music Supervision) Note: Your work will be privately viewed and not be released and will only be used for this application review.
Music Admin: a 300-word essay on TWO of the following…
Your favorite personal accomplishments, in or out of school or music
A brand or ad campaign featuring music you thought was interesting, and why
Your favorite TikTok song and your hypothesis on why it went viral
Music Creative: BOTH of the following…
Create a 90-second video of how this scholarship might help you.
A piece of self-made musical expression between 30 seconds and 2 minutes and 30 seconds (Note: You will only be evaluated on the content, rather than the recording quality.)
Music Supervisor: BOTH of the following…
300-word Essay on a song or piece of music in an advertisement, TV show, or movie you thought was interesting, and why
A 90-second video describing an existing song that you feel inspires you and why.
Description of past music experience (i.e., group music band, school band, music production, choir, private lessons) OR Examples of work (in music production/composition, playlist or past writings about music)
Letter of Recommendation
Unofficial Transcript(WRITE A NOTE: If you cannot access it, please explain why)
An acceptance letter from a college or trade, or a write-up of goals post-high school graduation
