January buildUP Sample Flip Challenge: All My Life

 

buildUP is Building Beats’ virtual community for music producers of marginalized genders, including women, non-binary people and trans men. buildUP is a space to learn and grow by sharing recent work and feedback in a supportive environment.

 
 
 
 

Our next buildUp event's Sample Flip Challenge on January 11th will feature vocals from 90’s r&b classic K-Ci & JoJo’s “All My Life,” which can be downloaded below. All entries submitted and showcased during our January 11th buildUP event are eligible to be included in our next mixtape!


Here are the guidelines:

  • Flip any sample using any portion of the sample pack in any way you like - flip it, chop it, dice it, slice it, pitch it, reverse it…the choice is yours.

  • Track must be 1-2 minutes long.

  • Post to Instagram with #buildUPflip

  • Post to Soundcloud with #buildUPflip

  • To be considered for our next buildUP beat tape, your track must be completed & emailed to buildUP@buildingbeats.org by January 11th @ 5pm EST. In addition, you must RSVP to and attend the January 11th buildUP workshop at 7pm EST, where we’ll be showcasing our flips and celebrating our creative genius :) You can RSVP here.

  • When sending your submissions, send as a .wav file and indicate whether your track is mastered or unmastered (Hint: if you created your track in Soundtrap, it is automatically mastered upon export, but in a DAW such as Ableton or Logic Pro, it is not). We are accepting both mastered and unmastered versions.
