1. How to Make Lo-Fi in Soundtrap | Tutorial by Frog Tone - Mixing

Frog Tone - Mixing gets placed at number one because he created his entire Lo-Fi beat in the free version of Soundtrap. Not premium, free! While Frog Tone utilizes every aspect of the free web browser-based to make his beat, he does admit that the drums were separate and all in the pack. Despite that, Frog Tone is very detailed and clearly knowledgeable of music.

In the beginning you are given an introduction and a brief lesson on music theory to let you know your options for building chords: you can make a simple chord or an extended chord. In addition to his intelligence, Frog Tone is very quirky, so you’ll enjoy the video throughout and he’s also generous.

When he gets into creating the pattern, Frog Tone uses the defaults in Soundtrap yet also advises about how to use plug-ins. For example, to achieve that sound where the beat almost feels nostalgic, Frog Tone uses the Vibrato plug-in effect that’s available (hidden) in Soundtrap. It was really cool of him to share this alternative to create your “Lo-Fi” sound.

2. SOUNDTRAP | How to Make a Trap/Lo-Fi Beat EASY by The Birthday Brothers

The Birthday Brothers’ Lo-Fi tutorial is similar to Frog Tone - Mixing’s, where the video as a whole was extremely in-depth and everything was made in Soundtrap. The Birthday Brothers’ tutorial was set up more like a virtual lecture; it could use a bit more pep but it was educational and straight to the point.

3. How to make a LoFi for Beginners (Soundtrap) by Endlessly Fiorella

Endlessly Fiorella’s tutorial is placed at number three because she’s animated, fun, and knows her stuff when it comes to making Lo-Fi type beats in Soundtrap. She can get a bit distracted, but if you’re into that kind of thing, then this is a great tutorial for you!

Fiorella was very detailed with the steps and samples she used in the beat she made. She takes her time making it and makes sure that you understand what she is doing on the screen. She even explains what the little nooks and crannies built into Soundtrap do, in reference to the DAW. Lastly, Fiorella gives recommendations if you a particular taste or style, it was like you were creating your own beat alongside her.

4. How to make a chill lofi beat on Soundtrap! by Kyoto

Kyoto is like a lot of people right now, they’re just making some beats on their computer and are really good at it! He’s very honest about his knowledge of music and not knowing how to make a melody. Kyoto admits to finding his melody on Splice and even shows you how. (Take notes!)

While the tutorial was upbeat and had a different approach to making a Lo-Fi type beat in Soundtrap, it’s placed at number four because it felt more of a walkthrough to create a Lo-Fi beat like Kyoto. However, if you’re interested in just watching someone make a Lo-Fi type beat for fun, this video is the one to watch.

5. How To Make Lo-Fi Music Using Soundtrap

Lastly, but certainly not the least, we arrive to Sentinel’s video which had a humorous approach to making a Lo-Fi beat in Soundtrap. This tutorial is listed at number five because, well, at first we didn’t realize it was a tutorial but if you stick around long enough you can actually come out with a good beat yourself.

Sentinel was clever and hardly showed their face, which was probably for the better because it works with the mysterious feel the YouTuber is going for. To explain the steps, Sentinel used screenshots and texts throughout the video. The instructions were clear and practical, especially the part where Sentinel downloads their sample by converting a YouTube video to MP3.

In the end, the beat came out sounding incredible and was worth watching the full 5 minutes and 44 seconds. This tutorial is listed at number five because while it was humorous and gave clear instructions, it was too fast. Though, you could probably pause the video at certain points to take down notes.
