Krithi Rao - Director of Development

Krithi currently serves as the Director of Development for Building Beats. In this role, and through her previous six-year tenure as a Program Manager, she has dedicated herself to making music technology more accessible through workshops, fundraising, and curriculum design. Her work as a Cultural Ambassador for the U.S. State Department and an Education Consultant for We Make Noise further cements her role as a leader in music tech education, where she bridges the gap between cultural heritage and high-fidelity production.

Beyond her leadership role at Building Beats, Krithi is a genre-bending producer, remix artist, and DJ celebrated for her innovative fusion of sounds from the Indian Subcontinent with electronica, hip-hop, and dance music. Her creative output includes 11 instrumental projects released since 2020 and features in DJ Mag and Mixmag. Most recently, she co-produced an official remix of “Ghana Kasoota” for Sony Music India and Relentless Records as part of the DAYTIMERS UK Alterations compilation.

From engineering sample packs for Splice and Serato Studio to co-composing for film with DJ Rekha, Krithi’s production style emphasizes immersive, intentional sound. A fixture in both the NYC and international club scenes, she has graced stages at venues like Silo and Public Records, performed at Four Tet & Friends, and recently played a standout DJ set at London’s iconic Jazz Cafe.
